Roll a D20 / Legal
Disclaimer
Roll a D20 is an independent, unofficial tool for tabletop play and learning. Here is how its results and guides should, and shouldn’t, be used.
Unofficial and independent
Roll a D20 is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro or any other game publisher, voice assistant or platform. Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, Magic: The Gathering and related names are trademarks of their respective owners and are mentioned only to identify the games discussed.
Game rules guidance
The D20 guide and MTG guide are introductory summaries written in our own words. They are not official rules. The current official rules, card text and errata, your game master, and tournament judges always take precedence. Check current card wording and format legality before relying on a card example.
Roller results
Each roll is random and independent. The site does not predict, influence or guarantee any result, and the animation is decorative only. If a result matters to your game, agree with your group in advance that an online roller is acceptable.
Not for gambling or high-stakes decisions
The roller is not designed, certified or audited for gambling, betting, lotteries, prize draws, giveaways, security codes or any decision with legal, financial, medical or safety consequences. Use an appropriately certified method for those purposes.
Probability figures
The figures on the probability page are exact for an ideal fair die with 20 equally likely faces. Physical dice may not be perfectly fair. Averages describe the long run and do not predict any single roll. Special game rules, such as critical hits or automatic successes, are not included.
Illustrations
The celestial die artwork was generated with an AI image tool and is decorative. The 20 shown on it is never your result; the number in the result panel is.
Accuracy and updates
We work to keep the guides accurate, but rules, cards and the site itself can change and errors are possible. If you notice a mistake, please let us know.
